mowin Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 @Splitear. Leland, is this something you can use in your 4H class? If so it's yours.
sbuff Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 I would think yes but will let him confirm . The larger the # the faster they burn . 4f is the faster then 3f ,3f is faster then 2f etc . The faster they burn the higher the pressure and the quicker the pressures jump up . So 4f is typically identifying as a priming powder where you want a very fast burn rate yet since it's not confined you don't worry about pressure building up outside the barrels .3f and 2f are usually used as main charges in sporting rifles and smoothbores because they don't burn as fast there fore don't jump pressures as fast internal in the barrel mowin and Lawdwaz 2
Splitear Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Sure we could use it. It's funny, our national curriculum requires that we only use BP substitutes (pyrodex, T7, etc), however, it also teaches flintlocks, which for all intents and purposes are not compatible with substitutes. So, we keep a little BP on hand for when we do flintlock shooting. Let me know if you'd like to get together sometime. Thanks!
mowin Posted December 8, 2022 Author Posted December 8, 2022 Glad you can use it. I have no need for it, and rather see the kids get some enjoyment out of it. Next time I'm going to be in the Albany area, I'll let you know and we'll see if that works. I'm sure we'll figure something out.
