"What happened here? I think he managed to hit the back hip bone, which I believe stopped the elk from running away. Then it seems like he took a Texas heart shot, hitting part of the spine on the back side. Two terrible shots that went right, by luck.

But on looking again, the first shot hit the front leg, I think. As for the second shot, I'm not sure now after looking again. You guys tell me what you think about where this guy hit that elk."

IMO, first shot hit the left front shoulder and probably took out the heart/lungs.  The second shot could have hit anywhere as I think that was a dead elk standing.

The scope overlay on the video is off. The first shot broke the shoulder, and the 2nd shot is hard to tell, regardless, it put him down.

Agree the video cross hairs are not aligned with the actual shots..
