Gift for Army Kid

One of my boys' friend is heading to basic training for the Army  in January and the parents are throwing him a little "good luck" party.  What's a good gift for a fine young man heading off to Army basic training? Cash? Gift cards-anything in particular they have access to more then something else?

I imagine he can't bring much with him.

Only thing I can think of is cash. Anything civilian like clothes gets locked up at least that's the way it was in 2002 when I went. Or wait till he is done basic and comes home on leave and get him something he is into.

Scary part is I'm not sure he (or his generation) would understand that!

I know my kids never played cowboys and Indians!!!
