I have one of those silicone rubber holders that holds three tubes of powder and bullet, along with a few spots for primers.  Usually I carry that along with the load in the muzz.  How do you guys carry extra shots, on the off chance you need them(and the time to reload).

I use the same system you do. Works well for me.

I always keep primers in a speed loader with a small pocket knife attached that I ground the tip off and used a chainsaw file to make the tip a  C shape for stuck primers and a reload in both side pockets of my bingo harness. I’ve had multiple opportunities of 2nd and 3rd shots on deer with the smoke pole. My Mass buck last yr I shot at 3 times in under 5 minutes.

Weighing is much more accurate, as it should be. My speed loaders don't have markings on them, so I use the same powder measure to fill my 3 SL.  I tap the side several times to settle the powder.

I can see where mass produced SL could be off a bit like his were.

This is my first yr using BH, so I'm using what I got to get me through this yr.  But I can see a scale like the one in the video in my future.

I actually bought that same scale last year when I started building arrows. I’ll post about the accuracy and precision of my BH tubes once they arrive.

I just ordered some blackhorn measuring tubes. But check this out, looks like some tubes aren’t consistent across batches:

From an LSS/Waste perspective that dude has more stuff and handoffs than needed. Inefficient.

I have the BH209 tubes. I have the scale/calibration weight. I have the red canister funnel.

Mark each tube with a number. Weigh it. Then add the measure weight of powder to arrive at a finish weight per tube. Put the finish weight for the measured powder by tube number on a sheet of paper at your work station. You only ever have to weigh the tube empty, once.

No need to have the yellow funnel, the fancy trickler or the little tray. Good grief. He took that much time to load one and I can do three in that time maybe four. It’s not the hard or complicated and my loads are just as accurate per scale and no issues.

I don’t think I’d ever use volume marks for loose powder IMO. Otherwise I’d just use pellets.

The powder trickler seemed a bit much

I don't think his video was to show how he loaded his tubes, but to show the inconsistent markings on the tubes.

No need to analyze his system.

Some people here are new to loose powder and BH209. Seeing that video could lead people down a path. May save people some time and unneeded money spending. Point being don’t waste time and don’t bother using volume lines. Weigh.

I’ve shot pounds of blackhorn and I have never found a couple grains of powder to make any noticeable difference. For those planning on shooting a few hundred yards I’m sure weighing  each load is worth it. For me I made a powder dipper from a metal coffee scoop and some jb weld. It’s always been within 1.5gn when checking on the scale.

I can fill 10 speed loaders with the dipper and a funnel in a couple minutes and shoot 1.5 Moa with my 3 setup muzzloaders. Cva accura MR, cva wolf and my woodman arms. Everyone shoots the same load, sabot and bullet, actually my brothers cva optima shoots the same setup as well.

I know guys that have said they’ve lost accuracy towards max loads and I have seen the opposite, everyone I’ve shot with the harvester sabot, Barnes combo shot best at max load.

I'm new to BH209. Had 2lbs given to me, and my first time shooting it was last week.  Didn't want to spend the money on a scale and other equipment before trying the stuff, so a simple volume measure was used.  My best groups at 100y were 1.5" with 80g by volume. 90g my groups opened up to almost 3".

Being ML started in 3 days, I was more than happy with those results.  This summer I'll try different loads and bullet combos and possibly purchase a scale.

Curious though. Is it possible to get consistent 4-5" groups at 200y with volume measurements?

Going that far out, I’d weigh. Mostly because it eliminates variance. You may have better luck - if you do not weigh - by using a specific volume measurer and not these type of loaders. That will certainly help. The volume measurers are cumbersome IMO and a scale is really cheap via Amazon or EBay, maybe $20-30.

I also have a lower weight/grain in my Wolf as going up 10 Gr. opened my groups up nearly double. It’s not unheard of what you experienced. That’s the good part about loose powder IMO is you can really dial it in.
