Bucksnbows Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 NY for the most part does not have significant bear problems in most of your vast state because you have always held hunting seasons to keep their numbers in check. Here in northern New Jersey, we have become overrun with bears and complaints. We have had a death and numerous mailings as well, not to mention category 1 complaints of damage or killing of pets and livestock. Our hunt has been on again, off again for well over 15 years. Our Governor had cancelled the hunt for a couple years only to allow it to happen this year when complaints doubled and tripled. NJ is currently holding a public comment period which will impact future hunts. Please consider commenting on behalf of bear hunting and to support hunters to your south. Below is the link and you do not have to live in NJ. If you comment, mention how NY keeps bear numbers in check with liberal season lengths. https://www.nj.gov/dep/rules/comments/ Rusty, Ncountry, Robhuntandfish and 1 other 4 "A sinking fly is closer to Hell" - Anonymous https://www.troutscapes.com https://nativefishcoalition.org/national-board

Bucksnbows Posted December 11, 2022 Author Posted December 11, 2022 TTT This is important to help keep politics out of fish and game (and forest) management in our state which will only spill over to our sister states in time. Let the trained biologists manage them with hunter and angler input while considering the rest of the human population and the issues we as sportsmen or not present for modern game management.
