Swamp_bucks Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Looking at getting a 350 legend this off season. Seems like every one has one out now. Main use will be walking, drives, tracking and hunting Ohio at some point. so looking for light and manuverable. I like the compact looks of the Ruger American and looks like they have another one coming this spring that looks to have cerakote on it. just let me know thoughts pros and cons of what you have. Price point don’t plan on going over 1k. The Back 40 and sbuff 2
The Back 40 Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Good topic, I noticed a lot of 350's & 450 Bushmasters popping up also. Ruger does make a nice looking rifle.
escpen Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 My 13 year old son has a Winchester XPR in 350 legend. With a little bit of practice, he was hitting steel plates at 200 yards. He was able to take a nice 8 point during youth season this year. So far, so good! Bucksnbows and Swamp_bucks 2
Robhuntandfish Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 (edited) I dont have the .350 but I have the .450 in the ruger american and it's my favorite little hunting gun. Its light and short and just fits well. It's on the same frame as the .350. Its my designated swamp rifle and I feel confident with it out to 150+ yards with a 4X scope on it. dbHunterNY Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 certainly don't need a muzzle brake. winchester, savage, CVA, bergara, and Ruger are the ones I know of with a 350. if you have an AR-15 lower, Bear Creek Arsenal complete upper in 350 is like $300 but you're probably safer to avoid new laws if you go with a bolt gun. CVA cascades are nice. bergaras are nice. winchester xpr can be a subMOA rifle with pretty decent trigger right from the box. a friend has one. i said go big or go home and went with a 450 i've posted. 350 is probably more practical though, lighter, and ammo is cheaper. Buckmaster7600 Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 I have a 450 bushmaster in the ruger ranch rifle and I’ve come to hate it. I hate how the magazine hangs out where your hand belongs when toting and I absolutely hate that the 2 position safety doesn’t lock the bolt down. When walking the bolt often gets bumped the slightest bit and the rifle won’t fire. sbuff 1
sbuff Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 I believe they fixed those issues in the gen two version , they now have a three position safety that locks the bolt. (To late for you I know ) Swamp_bucks 1

phade Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 (edited) I have a cascade and a Scout. I like my Cascade but pricing on it has gone through the roof. Scouts are single shot but super nice and handy/maneuverable. If you want to pick up a 350 let me know. I’m sure fully decked out it’d be worth the drive and you’d save some $. We have sold probably 50 of them this year. *Edit, I just did some quick math on prices and stock levels. CVA Scout in a stainless with the base/rings, and a quality scope (Bushnell Trophy DOA or Athlon Straight Wall), $525-560. Some bolt options with in Mossberg Patriot with a Vortex Crossfire mid $500 but basic black on black. XPR, Cascade, etc will be a few hundred more. nygrandpa Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 I have the Savage Axis 2 with the 18" barrel. Incredibly accurate, light and vart good trigger. Was a birthday gift from a very good friend. This year I was shooting Winchester power point 180 grain. Love the gun not the ammo. Very accurate ammo but didn't expand at all on the little 4 point I shot with it.
Larry Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 I like lever guns I would get one in a lever gun if I were looking for a 350. What I'm looking for is a 44 mag but I won't buy another gun in NY. I don't want to pay 950 for a background check that was free and also get put on another list for no reason. It's nun of there business what I own. mowin 1

Nontypical Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 Personally, I don’t care for the AICS mag and how it sticks out where it balances in your hand. My Savage 110 had the AICS mags as well and I just ditched them in favor of a detachable box mag.
