Icy Hunt

When we hit the beach at Fire Island at 5:30 this morning it was only 24 degrees!  We laid out our decoys on a fresh water hole on the bay side and there was an inch of ice so we broke up a big area. We were buzzed by two black ducks about 20 min after sunrise - I swear I heard them laugh as we struggled to get in position to shoot as they shot by!  Then nothing!  Before we left, we threw the Dokken into the pond over a popper shot and gave the pup some experience retrieving in ice.  Chilly but fun morning!  By the way- the sunrise was beautiful!

Nice lab. I have 2, but mine are non hunters. But they're good at tennis balls.
