Action Cam suggestions

I've been toying with the idea for awhile now. I like the idea of taping the action sequences of my hunts. I think it would be fun to replay them with hunting buddies and my kids, and the footage could also help identify shot placement. 

Is anyone currently using action cams? I'd love to hear some feedback on what's working well and what isn't. I am not looking to put any content on YT or similar platforms. This would be for my personal use, and so pro level equipment or editing software isn't necessary. I know Tactacam has a few models out there, along with Go-Pro style cams.
