So went into the Dickheads sporting goods store on court Street today. The almost original  store. There was another before, but the only one I remember. And the hunting and fishing dept is almost gone. pretty much cleared out. I don't care if they have the last thing of something i need. I will never buy another thing from them ever.

I was in the Pittsfield MA store last week.  What a joke.  Never again.

The chain is moving away from all things firearm related. This is "official" in Q1-2024, but has been evident over the past few months as they clear out and don't restock the inventory. I've scored some really nice deals from them over the past few years, so am sad to see them go. I may be one of the few who feels that way. I know the guys who work in the store aren't happy about it. Also with them being a prominent sports retailer, they have a lot of foot traffic from non hunting customers. I feel like having "the Lodge" section in the store was actually good for our sport because it kept it visible / main stream.. normalized it in a sense. Now that DSG is removing that category from their stores, I have the feeling that it's going to push the hunting culture further away from this new social norm. Hopefully that makes sense. It does in my head but I may not have articulated it well.

There’s nothing left in the Dicks store in Poughkeepsie that’s hunting related. Not even camo clothing. A store employee told me that they had an unadvertised sale on all hunting related items. Up to 75% off on certain items. This happened around October .

Dicks in Latham and Crossgates made the transition away from hunting a while back. The Latham farms is the new business model: Dicks house of sport. I didn't even see fishing gear there the one time we visited!

Crossgates spot still has a fishing dept.

Last time I bought anything from Dicks was at least three years ago. When they stopped supporting 2nd amendment, I stopped supporting them. Mostly over priced garbage anyway.

I haven't shopped at Dick's in years--ever since they first took an anti-gun stance. I have bought exactly one item from them in the last probably 7 years. My treadmill broke while I was training for a marathon in the middle of winter. Dick's had the model I wanted several hundred dollars cheaper than anywhere else.

It turns out my core values are only worth about 300 bucks.

I bought some 22lr from Dicks during covid when they were the only place that had any. Other than that, I always found what I needed/wanted elsewhere for cheaper.

It was nice when I needed something in a pinch, and many years ago nice for ammo. Went in this winter to see if they had any sales on rifles and their stock was rough. Guy back there informed me that they were "getting out" of hunting and fishing entirely.
