E J Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 So on the last day of the holiday hunt I took a shot at a doe late in the evening. I looked around in the snow as it got dark but couldn't find any signs of a hit. I came back the next day and found one hair. Tonight I got this pic. The wound is right where I was aiming at the doe I shot at. If this is her I have no idea how she isn't dead. The shot felt good and sounded right and I had a good rest. Makes no sense to me. 250 grain sst with 3 triple 7 pellets. Doebuck1234 1
Bucksnbows Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 Was she broadside, or quartering? No way purely broadside or she’d be dead I would bet. Any chance it was a hard quarter to or away and a glancing blow off her right shoulder? cervidchasers and crappyice 2 "A sinking fly is closer to Hell" - Anonymous https://www.troutscapes.com https://nativefishcoalition.org/national-board
BowmanMike Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 I am with @Bucksnbows,she must have been quartering hard or spun. That wound looks to be perfect in the vital v. Maybe you caught the knuckle of the shoulder and the bullet glanced of it... Weird things do happen... Bucksnbows 1
Lawdwaz Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 Lots of funky things happen in the heat of the moment. Glad she (if it is indeed the deer you shot at) looks to be ok. Rusty 1
