Will go right to your front door

However, certain muzzleloaders like the Remington 700 and Traditions NitroFire , TC encores ,and new England firearms require a 4473 form and must be shipped to an FFL dealer.

Does anyone know if a muzzle loader rifle be purchased on line and shipped NY residence? Does it have to go to a ffl dealer.?

I do not believe a muzzleloader is considered a firearm. My cousin bought one last year and it was shipped to his house. That all could have changed under the new laws in effect 9/1 but I didn’t see anything about that.

I just ordered one online thru gunbroker. com and it automatically brought up Local FFLs to choose from didn’t give a choice? some vendors listed for black powder rifles said no ffl needed but that didn’t seem to work for me.  When I asked ffl I chose if I really had to go through them he said new NYS laws seemed to require it.  Typical legislative govt overreach aimed at honest folks that will be found unconstitutional as well NY.  When was the last crime and drive by shootings with muzzleloaders….cmon even city folks know that’s not happening.  Social control is being pushed onto the unwitting though glad to see NYS gun laws found unconstitutional hmmm good laws trump poor leadership.  Think they are trying to discourage NYS gun owners and buyers by adding red tape and cost.   I don’t believe it will work long term but we need to vote for folks that protect our rights.

People are scared to send anything to NYS,nothing I read in the 9/1 law change said anything about a muzzleloader being sent to your house . To my knowledge you still can  .

Obviously the burrows would not be part of being able to ship to NYS

I’ve probably shipped 100 muzzleloaders through USPS, UPS, etc.

Easy peasy. I think I shipped 20 of them around Super Bowl time February time.

As noted, certain models like the Nitrofire come with added red tape.

You can still get them to your house.  Not a problem.

It's funny you see on gun broker several out of states dealers say won't ship to NYS ,know your laws . Then you call and explain laws and they still won't ship to you .

Can't win , I'm glad I have several muzzleloaders to choose from

Look at it from the shippers perspective.  A NYS resident telling them it is okay, is not going to suffice.  Even if it is legal, there is the fear that if the item is used in NYS for a crime, they can and may be brought into litigation.  I can honestly say, I understand their refusal to not get involved with NYS.

Same experience here picking new cva up tomorrow night ffl neighbor 5 minutes away not too difficult and still a better deal in my hands online than getting it thru local outlets.  Vendor wouldn’t ship directly to me so ffl and probably unnecessary but just happy to get new black powder rifle to shoot and hunt with.

Does that include Fully, semi-automatic, high capacity, assault, muzzleloaders???

All jokes aside, is the NitroFire different because they take the prepackaged charge?

Requires the form. Didn’t use to require background but I need to check w my partner as that may have changed w the new BS here.
