For the reloaders in the group.

I've been loading CFE 223 and 80 TTSXs for my 257 Roberts Montana and getting very good velocity and accuracy.

Now I'd like to try it with 100 TTSXs, but can't seem to find any load data. Anybody using this combo? I'm basically looking for a safe starting point that I can work up from, to achieve 2900 fps, or so.

Thanks, LET EM GROW. That's  where I found the data for the 80 TTSXs, but doesn't show CFE 223 with 100 TTSX, which is what I'm looking for.

My apologies, I just checked a couple other shared load data groups I'm on and didn't see any cfe223 used for heavier bullets, even on the copper load sheets I have. Sorry

I can’t add value but I want a 257 Roberts so bad. I just can’t do it because I have no time to learn reloading. Jealous.

I picked up a new Kimber Hunter in .257 Roberts last year and it's a great shooting gun with zero recoil.  I'm pushing 100 grain Nosler Partitions at 3,000 fps out of the muzzle for whitetails.  Love the gun and topped it with a big Leupold that gathers lots of light.  But I'm shooting IMR 4350 and can't help the OP with his powder charges.

I wish its popularity hadn’t fallen off to the point of scarcity. I know the 243 is credited with its downfall but the ability to carry a few more grains of bullet while still moving fast is appealing. I probably will not buy one until I retire and can focus on reloading, fly fishing etc lol.

I was looking in the past few years for a nice 25-06.. but the 257R has taken rank.. When i do gift my self a new rifle, it will be the 257R without a doubt..

There are not a lot of standard commercial new options out there. I read a bit about people trying to bring it back to popularity but I just don’t see it happening with the new trends and economic conditions. I’ve seen a lot of old timers have that as “their only” rifle and take game from varmints to black bear and elk with it. Something appealing in that vs a larger caliber option. I have a 7mm Rem Mag that I can’t recall the last time I shot it. I like smaller versatile calibers for some reason.

I bought mine because my late father always wanted one and we would pour over reloading charts. I’ve spent nearly 45 years shooting first a 30-06 and later a 7mm Remington mag at deer typically well under 100 yards.  Who needs all that gun?  The .257 Roberts is solid on deer to 300 yards. I can’t see that far in the woods I hunt in NY. There is no recoil, yet I’m sending a bullet out at 3,000 fps.

The only downside is ammo availability.

Yep, Especially loaded with the right bullet and velocity, it will kill everything this country has to offer.. My biggest Centerfire if a 30-06.. only reason I have that is bc i couldn't pass up a Savage Model 111 scoped case and half dozen box of ammo for 160$ lol. It is my only big caliber gun and it just sits..

22cals- 6mm guns are more fun and can do plenty of harvesting when loaded right..

I’m right there with you on that. Been looking at 7-08s as the next best option since 257 is uncommon. To me it’s still a large step up and more of a dedicated deer round.
