Shark reproduction mount

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have a recommendation for a NY taxidermist who could do a repro of a black tip shark I caught this week?

There are a couple big companies down here in Florida that have nice work, but I see a lot of nightmares online about hidden charges and crating / shipping fees.

I'm not expecting cheap. I know it'll be costly, but I figured it's worth it. How many sharks am I going to catch in my life? It was a great day on the water with my Dad.

Thanks. IMG-20240128-WA0000.thumb.jpg.124888f05dfe066819ccf25c77cb251d.jpg

We won a tournament here in NJ and had a repo made of the winning mako for the captain.  It came out awesome.  I did a bunch of research on taxidermists at the time (2011) and Northeast Taxidermy Studios out of CT was without question the best I came across.  IMO very inexpensive given the size, I think we were around $1060 shipped to NJ.

Sorry, something that confused me is the domains are different in the links but it appears to be the same company as that link is available through their menu and does look just like all their repos.  So I'm confident it is the same company, just two different domains.

Those mounts are awesome. Can you pluck a tooth if you catch a shark and can't keep it? I always thought it would be cool to throw on a necklace or something. I'd prefer the cleaned shark jaw (less space), but I guess you couldnt keep that one?

We could have kept it if we wanted to. I didn't feel like killing it. Especially when I wouldn't be able to take the meat back to NY.

As far as grabbing a tooth, I wasn't getting anywhere near his mouth.

I ended up putting a deposit down with these guys today. Thank you for the recommendation. Very friendly people, and their work looks great. It's a 6 hour drive, but it'll be worth it.

They can ship to you too.  That's what we did.  Shipping wasn't expensive if I recall correctly.  But it was quite a few years ago now.

Can’t wait to see the finished mount.
