For 6 years I was the lead singer for Big Sky Country, a Capital Region country cover band. It was/is a great band, and as a victim of the groups success, my family and work schedules just wouldn't let me keep up with the huge amount of gigs we were lining up. So, in 2022, I decided that I would leave the group.

This past fall, my wife of all people, suggested that I start a new band, one that in which I could have a bigger influence over the schedule and music. So, I pitched the idea of a limited engagement 90's country dance band to my former drummer. Since then, we have added a female lead singer, lead guitar, bass guitar and pedal steel/fiddle player. I'm pleased that we've started seriously rehearsing (at around 25 songs right now) with gigs lined up starting this summer, including some of my favoritie "larger" venues in the fall.

We've still got a long way to go, but it's shaping up nicely. We're looking at only playing around 12 times a year, and really focused on just a fun "retro 90's" feel to the shows, including  having neon and 90's themed merchandise.

Anyways, if anyone is interested, we now have a Facebook and Instagram page, and I created and dropped a little teaser video last week. Feel free to give us a "like" and if you can catch a show this summer/fall, feel free to come up and say hello.

A get-together at one of your gigs would be a blast.   Bucksnbows might be willing to drive 2 hours for no other reason than to meet a couple of you knuckleheads but not me.   However if you add in some live country music I’m the first guy signing up.

And Coors Light?

I’ll let you drink beer in my truck. What time should I pick you up?  Route 23 S to 287 N and we’re off!

It's Official:

We are getting together this fall in Albany to watch Splitear rock the stage!!

That bar SUCKED! 10pm-2am show, everything was just kind of "sticky", and there was a beam of the ceiling that ran perpendicular to the stage that I would always hit my head on when going stage right. I don't miss that joint at all...

I didn’t know that there are bars that aren’t sticky.    Guess I gotta up my game if I’m gonna hang out with you snobs.

I definitely got spoiled with some of our regular joints, the Saratoga Casino being one of the best. It was well run, good security, 900 people through the door, and they took great care of us.

One that I loved to hate was Meadowbrook in Glen, NY. All it needed was chicken-wire and it would have been straight out of the Blues Brothers. It even has a lightup dance floor. One of the biggest fights I witnessed happend there. Probably 50 people going at it thoughout the place and the parking lot. Someone threw the popcorn machine across the room. I got my stuff out of there and into the car and just watched the mayhem. Unfortunately my steel guitar player lost a rearview mirror in the fracas when someone got thrown against his van. It was chaos.

Those lighted dance floors are or were scattered all over NY and the country. My boss when I bounced and bartended while at college in Ithaca, the late Johnny Mahool, made and sold them. Including the one John Travolta made famous. The original was at The North 40 along Cayuga Lake outside Ithaca which was the bar he owned where I worked during the last three years of college.
