You seeing lots of fat on your deer?

Butchered up my ML doe today.  Trimmed off two 1gal bags of fat.  Not bad for having no mast crops this year.  There is a corn field across the kinderhook creek, and I'm sure that has helped.

Couple does my friend shot during rifle had zero fat on them.  No agg within miles, so I was surprised to see this much fat.

Buck from Sunday while still heavy was run down from the rut a bit. Not much fat at all. We noticed the lean state.

The buck I shot on opening day had very little fat, which is typical for a rut run buck.

That's a good idea. Do you just put it out like that? Now I just need a deer.... :default_unsure:

I've got a suet cage that I stuff it in.

My doe from opening day had more fat on her than any other deer I’ve ever taken.  The buck from the last day has very little but not surprised after the rut and I had him running does a bunch of times on camera
