National Deer Association (formerly QDMA) has an annual conservation seed program. They get leftover seed from last year at a very discounted price. This is only distributed through local NDA branches. My Upper Hudson River Valley branch here in northeastern NY is taking Pre-orders. 90-120 day roundup ready 50lb bags of corn will be available or early to medium maturity roundup ready soybeans. Cost per bag for either will be between $20-25 depending on our branch expenses to go get it. It'll likely be available for pickup in Northern Rensselaer or Southern Washington County. Haven't decided who's storing it yet. Let me know if you'll want any BEFORE... Friday Feb 16th. We need to submit our branch pre-order by then and no later.

sure Dave PM me with how many you'd want reserved. I can meet you in Albany somewhere when the time comes for easy pickup.

PM sent for three. I'm in the guilderland area for work. And western Schenectady county at home. But I'm flexible for the pick up. Thanks!

Gonna try some beans just above the swamp this year.

How are you planning on planting them? I'm interested too if I can easily get them in the ground.

We have a planter on the farm. But.....you could broadcast the seed in a prepared plot as well. Then compact them in, or run a drag to cover.

only thing i'll add is that it's good to use innoculent powder mixed in with the soybeans. typically one bag is like $19 and will do about any amount of seed you'd order to put in food plots.

so everyone knows these are pooled from reputable seed companies. 50lb bag of soybeans typically runs around $80 and corn closer to $180 or more. Germination isn't 100% as it's left over seed but still good and a hell of a deal at the price it gets finalized on. multiple emails flying back and forth to nail it down will post as soon as it's finalized.

It really is a sweet deal!! Normally a 50lb bag will do an acre. I'm planning a bean plot maybe 2 or 2.5 acres. So I'll use three bags. It should be just right for nice and lush.

all this can be a thankless job at times. we run into issues storing all the educational materials, displays, etc and we have two small buildings right now for it. biggest one is time. have to be available for everyone to pick up the seed.

it'll help to use a solar fence system if you have one. you can tell if its browsed but good idea to put in a 6'x6' chicken wire exclusion cage in the middle. i've ran cams on field scan mode and deer would be in it every day when its young and green. plants never make it to maturity in that case..
