As far as I'm  concerned  there isn't a season on them now. If i see one in NY it will be shoot, shovel, and shut it. Lol .Nasty animals we dont need around.

I lived in the heart of Colorado’s mountain lion country. I open carried my .44 wheel gun when remote stream fishing or hiking. They attack from the rear most often, so whenever I cut tracks in the snow regardless of the age of the tracks, the little hairs on my body stood straight up and I gre eyes in the back of my head. But the big cats belong in that ecosystem and I wasn’t necessarily the apex predator when I lived there.

I know that feeling.lol.  2 years ago, while bowhunting, 20220905_192024.thumb.jpg.680083e525dce0328078a6e815f0b92f.jpgin Colorado I walked through this narrow section  with steep rocks on both sides. Didn't bother me during the day but coming back through there after dark was a little spooky .  Especially after seei g tracks and listening to a story about a mountain lion encounter from a hunter the day before.. Let's you know your living.

Even though i don't hunt or have a desire to hunt anything I don't plan on eating. I'm a believer that most animals need a hunting season, keeps the hiarchy obvious for the wildlife.

I’ve hunted a couple times where one is no longer top of the food chain.

A few times I have felt my rifle is about the size of a toothpick.

I found it a game changer on how I see hunting and glad those places and wildlife still exist.

My .44 was more so I could stick it up under my chin if the mountain lion was  gnawing on my head. :)

I'm not interested in hunting big cats, but I'm curious: if they're not hunted occasionally, how can we prevent them from viewing people as prey rather than predators, causing them to fear and avoid humans? My concern is that without population control, there could be an increase in attacks on humans. That's usually what happens, and then hunting or trapping will be used in the end anyway after a few people or pets  are killed .
