So my elderly neighbour died.

78 years old ... at his deer camp ... in the outhouse ... sitting down.

I was talking with the volunteer fire dept who pulled him out and apparently this is a common thing - the straining, not the outhouse.

If you have to go, I guess there are less poetic ways to do it.

Yes, it is not uncommon that people with that significant CV disease die from exertion/straining.    Dragging a deer and shoveling snow are two more.
