Phantom Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 (edited) I have been watching a lot of Dave Portnoy's, the Barstool guy's, pizza reviews, and I have visited some of the pizza places he mentioned. While I agree with some, I think he is totally off on others. I guess it's more subjective than objective. Edited February 27, 2024 by Phantom paula 1
Jeremy K Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Pizza is like chicken wings ,you have to find a place that does them how you like ,as far as pizza goes my favorite right now is still blaze, onion and sausage. Phantom and The_Real_TCIII 1 1
Breaking Point Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Grimaldi's in Brooklyn, or Rosa's pizza in Maspeth.
crappyice Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Full Moon Arthur Ave for the best regular pizzeria slice. Zero Otto Nova for thinner, wood fired L&B Spomoni Gardens Brooklyn for "squares" Broadway Joes Riverdale (but must be bought by the slice and reheated) Dominoes bacon best "fast food/chain" pizza late night! Ellios best frozen for nostalgia And no pizza can be purchased in Florida or Massachusetts (although we did get a Frank Pepe's (now a chain with all their satellite location) that was passable. We like pizza!
maddie Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Been all over this country and there's no pizza like NY pizza . here in the burbs were blessed with Italian mom and pop shops ,great well h2o, and the best dough. at least 8 pizza places in my town alone and my favorite Maris's less than a mile away. Phantom Posted February 27, 2024 Author Posted February 27, 2024 For chain pizza, I like Blaze and Pizza Hut the best, followed by Domino's. Then, pretty much every pizzeria I've eaten at in New York City is better than all the pizza I've had in every other state in the country. In Florida, I mostly stick to Blaze; everything else there is really bad. Most of the places that I found to be pretty good are owned by guys originally from New York. All the ones down there owned by the locals, for whatever reason, I didn't like.
Buckmaster7600 Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Nove in Saratoga is the best I’ve ever had. I think its ranked in porntnoys top 40.
G-man Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 I've had many great pizza in ny, but this new placed opened a few months ago and already has people traveling over 70 miles to get a pizza thankfully it's local to me. Six South Pizza, LLC https://g.co/kgs/QryWV3x reviews are amazing as is the pizza!
MPHunter Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Frank Pepe's and Sally's in New Haven. Red Rose in Springfield Mass. virgil 1
mowin Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 While I like pizza, it's not something I eat very often, or find exciting, and couldn't tell you where or when I had my best slice, or if I've ever had a "best slice".
Bolt Action Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 To your point, this is all based on preference. I prefer a thicker crust, while my wife prefers sauce and cheese on a cracker thin crust. I prefer meats or a good buffalo chicken, while my wife prefers the caprese style with tomato and mozzarella wheels and basil leaves. The Rochester area seems fortunate to have some pretty good local chains that make a good pizza. Pontillo's, Mark's, Perri's, Salvatore's are all pretty good pizza. Pizza hut isn't bad for fast food pizza and the kids love it. Nomad 1

grampy Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Kay's Pizza in Burden Lake is hands down the best for me. Wings are also excellent! Marino's in Schenectady is a close second. Splitear and GreeneHunter 2
