JohnPlav Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 I let my buddy use my old bow to get started with bow hunting. He did great and took 4 deer with it. He just upgraded and returned it tonight. I guess old bows still kill pretty damn good. crappyice, ATbuckhunter, Bucksnbows and 10 others 13
G-man Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 Except for materials nothing changes much in 10 years or so..
grampy Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 So cool you gave your friend a loaner bow, and he was successful with it too!! I have a 24 year old Mathews MQ-32 that I know will still kill deer!!
dbHunterNY Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 i guy i personally know has hunted with the same Mathews bow for a very long time. he's long retired and has 60 or so deer with it by now. several seasons ago the counts was in the 50's. I haven't kept mine. I've basically off loaded many of them to get people into bowhunting.
lucky118 Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 I wouldn't want my first bow. It was a Hoyt, and very heavy lol.

Lol, I may have had the same one, don't remember what model it was, but I remember picking up my buddies Mathews, and couldn't believe how light it was compared to my Hoyt.

And slow. Heavy letoff, not remotely a smooth draw. Loud. Plagued by limb problems. I could go on lol still killed alot of deer with it for yrs. mowin 1
