Favorite dry fly?

Recommended Posts

  • 1 month later...

My favorite dry fly. It is because I have ended long, tough days chasing big, wild trout with dry flies by nailing a bunch late in the day as mayfly spinners fall spent to the river’s surface where they make an easy meal for the trout.  And sometimes I toss one when a PITA fish won’t eat my dun imitation even though that’s what it is eating, but most trout won’t pass up an easy meal like a spinner.

Irish or Iris?

Float a green caddis in Guinness foam?

Iris is the correct name. I have a buddy that when Matt Grobert showed him that fly, was more than a bit tipsy and called it the Irish Cabbage. We call it that on purpose to this day. :)
