BowmanMike Posted April 3 Posted April 3 (edited) I think you are spot on,I had to brake for two different flocks of turkeys yesterday morning on a 20 minute commute. Edited April 3 by BowmanMike
Lawdwaz Posted April 3 Posted April 3 7-8 years ago driving home from Florida I saw a suv hit a turkey in flight; it flew up out of the median in hit the windshield. The windshield caved in but the turkey didn’t go into the driver’s compartment. The driver braked and came to a stop on the shoulder, certainly shook up. A tow would be needed for sure. This all happened at highway speeds, me northbound and them southbound. I saw it from a distance but saw the entire event. Sucked for them.
Ncountry Posted April 3 Author Posted April 3 A friend just showed me a video on his phone of a tom turkey chasing his truck down a dirt rd . He stopped , and the turkey started gobbling at him. He backed up and the turkey continued chasing him , until my friend got tired of playing with him.. I'm guessing that bird had a little mental handicap situation. lol . I don't expect he will make it through turkey season.

Happened to us on route 17 around Roscoe on our way up to Garrattsville a few years back. My buddy was driving around 73 mph when a bird flew into the windshield directly in front of me. We pulled over, I dusted off the glass shards all over me, we pulled a few feathers out, and we continued on to Garrattsville because nobody had that GMC 1500 windshield in stock. We got one two days later in Cooperstown at Safelight. Happened so fast, Todd never reached the brakes. A friend that lives on the rd that the video was taken told me today that he was attacked by a Tom turkey in his own yard.. he said he kept on kicking him, but the bird kept coming until he finally got him with a hard enough kick that he ran away. He didn't want to kill it thinking it was one that his neighbors raised, but none of them have .If there is a next time I don't expect the turkey will survive.lol. And I replaced the front headlight assembly. Crazy how much of the car I had to tear apart.. mowin 1

Worst part was that I missed one of the signal light bulbs when I was installing them before putting the assembly into the car. There was no way I could get my hands in to do it so the gf had to do that part herself.. After 15 minutes, a curse word or 2, and a few scratches, she jammed her hand in there and got it installed.. mowin 1
