mowin Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 Let's get this started. Those downstate must be close to a first cutting? I started clean ups earlier this week, and will be at them full force next week. We're probably 2-3 weeks out from mowing. Spent the past few days getting the mowers ready. The new one had a recall, so that's at the dealer. The snow today gave the ground a shot of nitrogen, and with 60° starting Monday, things are going to explode. Bionic and NYRturkeycall 2
Bionic Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 Overseeded, fertilized and rolled our 3 soccer fields on Tuesday. We will line them tomorrow . Miiiight mow them at 2.5” late next week just to get them leveled up. We edged 4 of our baseball fields last week, and the new stadium lighting is complete. Plow damage clean ups will begin tomorrow before the grass explodes with growth. corydd7 and mowin 2
2BuckBizCT Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 I thought about a first mow last week, but put it off. Then we got some rain. So maybe tomorrow just the side yard. mowin 1
Nomad Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 Our yard is close , but I’m in no hurry, plus I’d have to add pontoons to the mower right now . mowin 1

I don't think I could get on half my lawns right now without the mower sinking, including mine. Definitely need a week of dry weather for that to happen.

Most of my clients I only plowed twice, and those I back dragged because the ground was so soft. Edited April 5, 2024 by mowin Bionic 1

We always have a few properties where the wing plows dig in, or cars pulled over and made ruts. mowin 1

They always complain about excess stone in the lawn and point out the neighbors don't have that issue. Of course they don't, they have a crusher run driveway. Bionic 1

Keith Nehrke Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 I edged the garden beds this week and now I have to figure out mulch delivery. Any recommendations for near Rush? Our fallback is going to be the Garden Factory; they're about $40 per yard and $100 delivery. We need 12 yards, to be split with my neighbor who shares a driveway with us. I was seriously contemplating having the work done this year, but then I got a couple quotes. COVID made contracting prices crazy. One of the quotes was for nearly $4K. Honestly, so long as I don't try to be a hero and get it done in a day, it's not a big deal, and there's no way I'm paying 4K. I don't live in a McMansion...I have a simple 0.8 acre lot with beds around the house. It be insane out there! No offense to the guys here who do it for a living. My buddy is a contractor for hazardous stuff and he says that there's been a 30-40% uptick in bid pricing over the past year. Mostly labor and vehicle costs.

I got black mulch delivered from a guy in Lima. He’s on my list of calls this year. I’ll dm ya his info
