Phantom Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 I've been browsing various websites and considering upgrading my rifle's stock for deer hunting. I'm interested in an aftermarket stock with adjustable features like an adjustable cheek riser and length of pull adjustment. Additionally, I'm thinking about opting for a carbon fiber stock for its durability and weight benefits. Some names of companies that make them would be appreciated. Especially if you actually bought a stock from them and had a good experience is what I want to know really.
lucky118 Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 (edited) I use these guys. The aluminum accublock stocks are nice and solid. https://stockysstocks.com/ Edited April 10, 2024 by lucky118 Phantom 1

It's the same stock they now sell on the newer versions. Although I saw some cool thumbhole stocks with a lot of adjustability that looked interesting, I don't actually know anybody who hunts with that style of stock. The only guys I've ever seen using those just shoot off the bench at ranges. I want a stock that is lighter than what I have, and those from what I've seen are not.
phade Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 I use thumbhole on my shotguns. Slug and turkey. Weatherby stocks across their lineup are decent to good IMO. They offer a lot of different styles. Phantom 1
Lawdwaz Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 I never liked thumb hole stocked guns for the simple reason they’re far from ambidextrous. As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve killed plenty of game right or (mostly) left handed. Phantom, Ncountry and Nomad 3
dbHunterNY Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 one thing that's real with a hunting rifle is balance. typically custom built rifles with lightweight stocks also have thin contour BBLs. as long as you don't have a super long, heavier weight barrel you'll be relatively fine. I agree completely, putting a light stock on a heavy or long barreled rifle will ruin a guns balance making it awkward to shoot and carry. Phantom 1
