Bow hunting

After a recent shoulder surgery it looks like this will be my first year in many where I won’t be able to kill a bird with a bow. I’ve killed turkeys with every legal weapon imaginable and nothing compares to the excitement of shooting  one with a bow without a blind. Having to draw when a turkey is in range is exhilarating. 
 

Anyone  going to be chasing them this year with a bow, or have done it in the past?

I shot a turkey with my bow about 20 years ago. There were so many more of them back then. Was not my biggest gobbler. But probably my most memorable.

I’d rather take my bow to hunt deer any day. But for some reason, turkey and bow hunting them is just not exciting for me. Tried it, and meh.

Slammimg them with some #9 or 9.5/10 TSS (Ohio). Yes please.

I got a Turkey with a bow once...place I hunted was overrun with them. More culling than hunting  as the land owner wanted the gone since they were destroying newly planted crops digging in his freshly turned soil.

I've always thought to do it with a recurve but haven't vested the time to feel i was proficient enough. i've let some walk in the fall with a compound bow multiple times. spring more than not i'm with someone and it's not conducive to bringing a bow. maybe i'll give it another go this spring. drawing is hard not in a blind but honestly you're concealing yourself in some way anyway if you want to be successful in my experience. it not like you're out in the open drawing like you sit at a base of a tree with a shotgun. aint gonna happen unless you get a lucky break.

I've shot two with a bow and never found either one of them.   Shotgun for me.  As Tacks said they are meant to be shot in the face with a scatter gun.  Lol

Not only did tacks say it but he wrote it the comment section of levi Morgan's instagram page and Levi uses that phrase now . Levi also won't use a bow to shoot turkey.

Does he get any reciprocals for it?  He should for those words of wisdom.   It's better than Super Bowl for sure.

Not anymore ,levi got super upset when he showed up to one of the academy meetings and lost in a game of pig with tacks.

I like to say shotguns are for killing turkeys and bows are for hunting them.
