Wind is heavy here. Already one brown out / outage for 30 seconds. Of course today was trash day too so that was fun. No snow yet but have to assume it’s coming soon. Roc area here.

Feel bad for those in wny and Watertown area.  Blizzard on Xmas weekend sucks even worse. My 72 yo brother in Adams had 2.5 ft last weekend and is expecting 1-3 ft over this weekend.

Closed our place this morn as everything around us is closed too.  But def doesnt look bad in CNY other than a flash freeze and some snow for a couple hours after

East of Albany it's 55° and heavy rain. Had a tree limb take out part of the back fence.  Got that cut up enough to temp fix the fence so the dogs don't get out.  Winds are wippin for sure.

I went into work for a couple of hours this morning. Left before it got real bad. The 35 min ride home only took 45min so it wasn’t that bad. The worse was passing open parking lots and fields. I few times visibility was zero but it was only for a second or three. Just enough to make you pucker.

50s and huge wind..dropping to 20s and YuuuGgge wind.

I guess I'm not bow hunting today!

This weather has not cooperated for my schedule this hunting season

You guys get a snow day or were you already off?  Most schools did a SI day around us , the rest closed as a snow day. We closed. Better off not being the only buses out in a statewide state of emergency declaration.

Daughter made it here from Buffalo around 8:30, I was at the gym then, it was nice to see her car here when I returned . She’d not make it if she left now . Other one is off work today .

Turned on my scanner, same as every storm , wires down , tree into house , automatic  alarms ,transformers blowing, starts west moves across the county like a wave .  I always liked working the storms , even when we were held over , only issue was my wife had to take care of our place for a day or two .

This ones got me nervous, not gonna lie

I’ve got idk 20 some Ash trees with in striking distance of our house …I treat them and they get full canopies, but soft ground and high winds are not a good combo .

So glad my neighbor took 4 giant dead ones down last summer , they were on the lot line so 40 feet from our house .

Other then that we can go,without power for days easily , looking forward to it actually .

My mom had a knee replacement last week so shes got the power chair, ice machine etc and no generator. Im at her house now. My wife and kids are at my house a couple miles away. When she loses power it will be a scramble. Having three dogs is a PITA otherwise wed all hang out over here

I hear ya. This would be a bad one to loose power in. I am a master procrastinator when it comes to a generator.  We almost got one 5 to 10 years ago but have not had any issues with loosing power for any length of time since then.

I can still run my wood furnace when the power is out,but only on very low as the blower doesn't work and I have to be careful to not overheat it. The masonry heater on the main floor will be going for sure.

Usually the furnace without power is enough to keep things ok ,but maybe not in single digits with the wind whipping.
