dbHunterNY Posted April 24 Posted April 24 (edited) Picked up a new saw to do habitat work and help get any bigger firewood in. New 70cc Husqvarna 365 with 24" bar. so far I've used my 50cc Husqvarna 346Xp with an 18" bar for 14 years and it's been great. Don't want to run the piss out of it on bigger wood though. Plus I supported a friend's small business. If you're around the Capital region of NY I'd fully recommend Goyers Power Equipment on Rt 7 in Brunswick. GreenDrake Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Nice saw! I am a Stihl guy…I have a 211 with 18 inch bar…261 with a 20” and a 361 with 25” bars that I use a LOT. My wife bought me the 500i fuel injected with a 30” Bar that I am going to fire up this weekend on some big stuff that fell in the woods during that nasty windstorm in March. I LOVE chainsaw season. I LOVE chainsaw season. honestly we rarely fell trees on the farm despite capable. Even after having it all logged in TSI fashion with only tops left for wildlife, there's plenty that fall from snow load and wind damage. Hard to keep up with it. Getting rid of stuff that might be on younger trees or even clearing big blow downs to let some light hit the forest floor is only going to help. Plus my parents who live on the farm burn wood for heat. got some tried and true saws there. the 261 is a great saw with a following like the 346xp husky. 500i is becoming pretty popular despite blazing a trail with newer tech for saws. part of the reason i bought this 365 is that it's one of the last remaining saws that haven't gone to computer based auto tuning with software tied to parts. days are long gone were you can work on stuff yourself without plugging into a laptop loaded with subscription based expensive proprietary software. Lawdwaz Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Stihl for me also, only because I don’t have much experience with Husky or other brands. New saw day is almost as good as new gun day. nywaw, dbHunterNY and grampy 2 1

2BuckBizCT Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Not a chainsaw, but a Stihl and maybe a hijack a little. My Stihl leaf blower isn’t running 100%. It’s maybe 5 or 6 years old and always ran great. It doesn’t bog down and turn off, but the power is like 60%. Any tips? I took apart the fan covering and cleaned it out, but no change. Video attached IMG_0173.mov

Despite having cut 1000s of cords of firewood and falling 1000s of trees in the past , I still enjoy running a saw. As long as it's only an hour or 2 here or there..;) We are building an off grid camp and three of us have spent the last 2 days clearing all the leaning brush and trees along 1 mile of an older logging rd. My 53 year old arms, back, and legs feel about 100 right now. 😆 dbHunterNY, mowin and Bucksnbows 1 2

Video attached IMG_0173.mov I’d recommend ethanol free gas in any 2-stroke equipment. It’s almost a dollar more a gallon but well worth it, just for ease of staring and smooth running. I’ve used Stihl and Husquvarna about the same and would rate them about equal. This old Stihl ran great for me (on ethanol free gas) last week, and it had been almost a year since I used it prior. nywaw 1

Didn't know that computerized tuning existed in chainsaws. Wouldn't want that either.
