grampy Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 Yes. We have done it many, many times successfully. #1 tip is to watch your downwind. Brush up on your calling, or pick up an electronic caller. Sometimes challenge barks, and howls will work better than a distress call. Or use a combination of both. Ton of good video's out there on this. Set up where there are lots of fresh tracks in the area. Want to be sure there are a good number of them where you set up. Be patient!! Sometimes it takes awhile for them to commit. If after forty five minutes or an hour you get nothing, move to the next set up. Good luck! Have fun! Stubborn1vt 1
Bucndoe Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 I've done it but prefer trapping them. Traps work 24/7 grampy 1
Versatile Hunter Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 I get a lot of daytime coyote movement on my cams. mowin 1
Buckmaster7600 Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Absolutely, I kill all my coyote in daylight. Have no desire to hunt at night and have enough success during the day to not have to consider it. grampy and DirtTime 1 1

Targeted after deer season. I hunt them a lot during season 1st or last hour with a fox pro call from deer stands/blinds. Stubborn1vt and crappyice 2
DirtTime Posted December 29, 2022 Author Posted December 29, 2022 Thanks for the replies. Still have those calls on the old phone, used them a few times just to see if they would work. Back in October I got some answers up at the cabin, and down here had replies a couple times when I used that phone as I was packing up after a morning deer hunt. I was more or less curious of they would leave the den during the day if trying to call them in. Seems like it's a pretty viable option as some of you guys have had success.
Robhuntandfish Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Ive called them in while hunting turkeys multiple times. Never had any luck actually during yote season though other than targets of oppurtunity during deer season. Cabin Fever Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 The team from Downwind Outdoors used to post their coyote hunting videos on the old site. Love their videos, as they are in NY and I think they mainly (/only?) call and hunt coyotes during the day. Inspiring to say the least! These dudes know what they're doing and make it look easy! Here is the link to their videos. Coyote Hunting Videos | DownWind Outdoors
Dr Juice Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 Coyotes are a forever target when hunting. My crew did not see one this year which is odd. But then again, we didn’t see much deer activity as well.
DirtTime Posted January 11, 2023 Author Posted January 11, 2023 Been out a few times now, couple hours at a rip. Nodda. I think I have to take the advice of @LET EM GROWand pick up a few hand calls as the phone doesn't seem to be working. LET EM GROW 1

I chat with one of the fellers on occassion. He also went through a journey with cancer which set them back.. Not sure you ll se much of them anymore. They did have more content to publish but life got in the way.

Hand calls get tough for me as I'm out of breathe after hitting on them for a bit. lol DirtTime 1
