mowin Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 Well of course if you place a speaker in the woods playing sounds of people being noisy where they normally do not hear those sounds regularly, it's going to effect the animals movement. Especially the following week. Didn't need a study to figure that out.
dbHunterNY Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 I've hunted urban and suburban public land that sees a lot of recreational use. also i have the luxury learning deer behavior on family farm land. My bitch is that they only conducted the study in one place. deer behavior is constantly evolving and they're conditioned to have varying degrees of tolerance for different things. On our farm you can drive a tractor and practically have to wait for deer to get out of the way. get out of the tractor to walk around though and they'll run clear past to the other side of the mountain. on some public land i hunt deer will let you walk by within spitting distance as long as you're on a designated trail. start bushwacking off the trail to hunt will make them sprint and leap across 6 lanes of traffic to get away. stand up wind of deer in barn clothes on the farm and they won't head for the hills but if you've taken a clean shower with anything scented they'll blow out of there like a freight train. mowin, grampy and Caeden4 3

Deer are so very adaptable. Like you said, what a hunter can easily get away with in one scenario, would put deer into panic mode in a different one. Anything that is not 'normal' to them, is cause for alarm. What's normal in one instance, may not be in another. dbHunterNY, Caeden4 and mowin 2 1
