Which Would You Pick For Home Defense/ Handgun or Shotgun?

Well, handguns are made to put holes in things, rifles are made to put holes through things. A shotgun properly loaded and used will take chunks of shit out of things and throw it up against the wall. Why do you think the Germans in WWI wanted to make using a shotgun a war crime. While they were using gas. I use a shotgun for home defense for that reason.

Shotguns are probably the worst overall choice for a home defense weapon. 
 

while the pump may be a deterrent, letting a shotgun go in a dark hallway in the middle of the night would be like throwing a flash bang at yourself 

 

the best home defense weapon by far would be a PCC  or pistol caliber carbine

I’ve fired a shotgun inside buildings and it’s a game changer!

 

a pcc is my choice, I’m not a 45acp fan but a subsonic 45acp in a carbine is almost perfect for use inside a house.

  I am a Shotgun Man myself. Close Quarters#6s are just Fine.

Shotgun. 100% the best choice.

My sister has shot a pistol probably twice.  The odds of her hitting anything is slim to none.  Put a 12g pump action shotgun loaded with 00 buck in her hands, and the odds of her hitting the scumbag just went up to likely.

Depends on how much experience 

12ga 00 kicks a lot for a novice. Best to get some practice with whatever is in the house

 Sure. As a Backup or if Surprised.  Not just Hands- Feet Knees,Elbows,Head, Locks,Holds,Throws,etc.

    Alot of Men especially  from age 35 and up need some Ongoing Training.  From what,I have seen as a Teacher . The Kids get Dropped off at the Dojo and the Father is really the one who should be Training.  Alot of Men- their Pride gets in the way. Some of these Men get Frozen on the spot in a Brutal Confrontation.  It is much different  from internet Tough Talk or Bullying.  If one has no Training- carrying 24/7 and into the Bathroom during a Shower will work also.

Practice is advised for everyone regardless of weapon.  My sister says pistols are confusing but pump shotgun is much simpler.  I've been inside a room with no ear protection when a 9mil was fired off.  My ears were not happy, and neither was I.  In a home invasion, my ears are the last of my worries.
