Deers

I took a drive the other evening to have a look at some potential areas for deer hunting. Most of what I saw were nowhere near the fields by any state land, but the AG areas were loaded. One nice buck was standing directly in front of the sign for the gun range.

The private land we hunt has some holdovers from last year. The 6 I let pass is still around, land owner sent me a picture of him, he's looking like a possible 9 point for this year. Has 7- 3 on the right and a bubble and 4 on the left and bubbles at the tips of two.

Have you sourced a butcher yet or will you process your own?

A bit north of Wilton.

Ok,  Corinth area?  Not that far from me, but not around the corner either. If you need help processing, you can bring it down to me, and I'll help get it cut up and processed.  Not sure if you just don't have the time, or need guidance.

Thank you, I appreciate that. I'm not as far north as Corinth, Moreau area.

It's actually not having a place to do it. The old place I had a tree but the neighbors would have had a fit (anti-hunters) if I had a deer hanging and then was out there cutting it up, so the park owners said it had to go to a processor. Here, I don't see anyone giving me crap about it, but now I don't have a pace to hang it.

Can you put up a pole?  Possibly put a 3' long PVC sleeve in the ground and make up a pole from black iron that you can remove when not in use?  Offer stands if needed.

Not sure what would be the cheapest option. all said and done you'd probably be looking at a tripod hoist off the internet for under $200. i haven't used one though. legs might be in the way but they can also be a nice tie-off point to a leg to keep the carcass from rotating. You could also bone it out gutless method style on a tarp or using it's own hide. I've done that in remote areas versus dicking around trying to hang the thing.

I'm a solid hour southeast. Can't guarantee I'll be available, but if I'm free you can bring it to my place or I could come there to give you guidance/help break it down so you can at least get it in the fridge.

I sent an email asking about the pole. My guess is they won't allow it as we're not even supposed to have dog run poles or clotheslines.

I appreciate the offers greatly.

Well that stinks.  Keep me in mind.

No go on a deer pole. The wife showed me in the lease where it says that's not permitted. I appreciate the offers and intel guys, thank you kindly.

If one of kills a deer on the private land we hunt it's not an issue to leave it hang for a few days. I've never asked about bringing a deer there if it was taken somewhere else. It used to be an hour and a half drive with two guys who cut up deer closer so it was a non issue.

We have about 4-5 deer that call the woods out in back home. They are in there every night and often during the day. I'd thought about asking the guy next door permission to hunt, but his land borders state land that's a no hunting area and then this community. His land is only about 4 acres so probably not worth it.
