WNY Bowhunter
Well, Bob (has half a tail) showed up on my first set of card pulls this summer making it the 5th yr of getting him on cams now. He last showed up in late January already shed and had what appeared to be a very close call with a bullet on the top of his back. This deer has proven to be quite the survivor despite not being the most elusive buck in the area. He is living proof that not all bucks have what it takes to be a 150" even when they reach full maturity, as his antlers have barely grown since he was 3.5 back in 2021!!! While he's not a trophy by the inches definition...he is still right up at the top of my most wanted list for this fall. 2024 @ 6.5: 2023: 2022: His rack ended up being deformed due to the injury back in December. You can still see a scar right above his right knee from the exit of the bullet. 2021: My dad hit him low during the late muzzleloader season but he survived and I found a shed in April 2020: Lil zeek, Doebuck1234, nywaw and 19 others

grampy
A buck that age is a true trophy! It doesn't matter what his antlers score! Having a buck with that kind of history is awesome. Wishing you the best of luck putting him on the "Red Barn"!! WNY Bowhunter
phade
It’ll be interesting if he gets “easier” to hunt/kill. People have such little opportunity to kill deer that old in NY so we don’t see it often, but I’ve seen heard and experienced some anecdotal evidence they get easier to kill after 5.5-6.5 as they get more confident in their abilities and core areas. dbHunterNY and WNY Bowhunter

He's a wanderer during the rut but he should be killable early. I had 4 encounters with him last bow season, twice the first two days...but I was after his 160" buddy. dbHunterNY and Moog5050 1

But yes, he would get a broadhead 5 minutes into the season on October 1st...lol. dmandoes, grampy and mowin 2
broomeguy
Wine (via the grapes) does extend one's lifespan, no? Very cool history!!

The bucks certainly do hammer the grapes from now until they are harvested in late September - early October. They must not do much for antler growth because he looks almost identical to last yr... dbHunterNY
just sugar content.... like candy to them. good luck getting after him. 6.5 yr old buck is a heck of a trophy. if he's too rutted up cheese and jalapeno summer sausage and other products he can be made into will make him taste just fine.
