What would you do? Update

I’ve got a dilemma.   If you promised a buddy that you would take him to one of your spots and then found out that you had a 150” slammer running around would you keep your promise or go after the buck yourself?

Update:
I took my buddy hunting yesterday afternoon,  we didn’t shoot the big one but we did get meat for the freezer.

So, what are you going to do?

I can't say I'd blame a guy for changing his mind.  Did you know that buck was around when you told him you'd take him hunting?

I have taken many friends out knowing that a giant was around.   Happy for them if they shoot it.    I have successfully set some friends on good bucks I had patterned.   It’s all good.

If you had no idea this monster was in the area, but your buddy somehow did shoot it, you’d be happy for him, naturally.  You would feel the same if he shot it knowing it was there.

PS: I’d probably up my stand time at the same time, but take lesser stands and give the prime ones to my friend.

about 25 years ago I was invited to a hunting camp with 6 guys, one who I knew well; shot clays with him and we had worked for the same company. They were also trying to recruit new members.

When it became time to draw stands as the new guy, I took the “worst” one before the rest decided on the others they had sprinkled about 300 acres. It bordered state land, so when I got there I decided to go a bit farther on state land as it was better to watch a pinch point with the wind and I wont sit in a home built stand. I take my chances on the ground.

About two hrs later I shot a very nice full frame 8pt. I field quarter deer, so I cut him up and started back with about 1/2, including the head. Dropped the load at a main access rd, went and got the rest. So about lunch time the “head” dude (who let you know he was the head dude) came by with an old jeep to pick me up. He was none to happy I shot “their” deer.

Neither were the rest of that group, or even the guy I knew.

After a diner that was very uncomfortable, I left and went home.

I never spoke to that “friend” again; or rather he never spoke to me; would run into him at the local building supply and he’d walk right by me.

Over an f’ing deer…….

Only you can decide how you want to be remembered. Class act that kept his word, or a douche like that group I experienced.

After that experience I hunt alone, been invited a few times; but I make an excuse to not end up in that situation again.

Wow,  you do NOT wanna see the answers to this question on the NJ site!

Lol, just read some of the responses.  But you left out it's a hypothetical scenario on this site, so I get the mixed responses.
