Might grab mine today.

Same. Thanks for the heads up @sbuff.  I wasn’t sure when they went on sale. NY is calendar daye (365 days) for fishing but October 1 for hunting, if I recall(?).  Here in NJ, it’s calendar year regardless of date of purchase for both hunting and fishing.

I did it the old fashioned way and went to Bass Pro Shops this morning. I like the fact that I can get my duck stamp there at the same time. The best part this year is the no back tag requirement. Being a waterfowl hunter, I cringed at the idea of putting holes in my expensive gore tex  waterfowl coats and jackets.

Thanks, didn't see that.  I figured it would be a option when buying the license, but that would make too much sense.

Just printed mine. Far easier than going somewhere. I do find it ridiculous they don't include a line to write the confirmation number down. In any other state that confirmation number is everything. Processors and taxidermists won't accept any deer without it. If you have a dead deer but don't have it written down, be prepared to wait a bit while DNR officer checks everything. If you made plans might as well change them.

Anyone hit the big box stores?

Sounds like Charlie went to BPS and I went Runnings, do those count ?   I usually always go to there or Walmart on August 1 to get mine.  One nice thing about this year, is that there was no one else in line doing it.  The bulk of the folks must be doing it from home.

I needed a few items from their store anyhow and I paid for them at the customer service desk, along with my license, so it was no inconvenience for me to pick it up there.  They printed all the tags on plain white 8-1/2 x 11 paper.  (5) deer tags total with (2) 9F dmp’s, (1) gun buck tag, (1) archery/ML either/or, and (1) archery/ML antlerless.  Also got (1) fall and (2) spring turkey tags.  Cost was $ 72.

The best thing about the change was the elimination of the crowds at the checkout counter.  The cashier could not figure out how to take a donation towards the venison coalition though.  Nothing new there, only about 25 % have been able to do that in past years.  I’ll try again when I go back for (2) “second draw” dmps when they come out on November 1.

Thank you @Wolc123, I was curious if it went smooth and if they printed the tags for you. I might give it a whirl at Walmart later today.
