Are the lithium tactacam battery packs worth the money?  To me makes sense charge it once a year and the lithium battery should hold up.

just wanted to make sure they actually work before I drop $100 on 2

No, they hold less charge than 12 Li AA batteries. Only useful if you connect a solar panel

I am ready to toss all 4 of my tactacams. I have the X-Pros. 3 of them EAT lithium batteries, no matter what settings I change.  No matter where or how i buy the batteries. I have been using mostly Energizers. The first year they were great…they went downhill after that. The 4th camera will not even power up. When I tried to discuss this with rep at the Harrisburg show in February, I got the predictable “hmmmm…that’s very rare”.

Check firmware and make sure it’s current. I don’t know what pro models you have but some pros had older firmware and the newer firmware should fix any issues with it. There are a lot of sales guys that work the Harrisburg show but I also know the owners and some of the service team work it too (I know 3-4) of them pretty close. If you got a sales guy, that might have been the reaction. The service people and Pat for example would help diagnose it.

The mah is between the alkaline and a set of energizer lithium. So while it may be more cost effective to run them financially if you use them year round for a few years, they’re not going to go as long without a cam check for battery swap. There are second generation solar panels and packs coming out.

I have 2 SKs in state land, btw

I would use the SK it has a much smaller overall profile.  Having a solar panel the cable and a camera I don’t think it would last long around here on state land it would stand out to much maybe in one of my spots I could get away with it but not many others.

think I’ll just stick with the lithium energizers for now.
