Outdoor edge knives?

I like the one I have but I like the havalon more because it’s smaller. I don’t like using a big knife.

That’s my issue I have now my knives are on the bigger side and I suck at resharpening so even going to a smaller knife once the edge is gone I’m usually screwed.

The one thing I don't like about my havalon is that the blade isn't as ridged as the outdoor edge because of the difference mounting system.  Easier to snap a blade.  I like the ease of swapping out the outdoor edge and how the blade is held.  Not that the havalon is difficult to change, it's just I prefer the outdoor edges blade change system a little better.  I do carry my havalon daily because it's more compact and slimmer.

If your cutting technique is poor and you try and heel over a blade a lot, a Havalon is not for you. With a heavier #60 blade a Piranta can easily do an entire deer and is a little more forgiving than the standard duty blade.

The outdoor edge with its top spine might be a little more forgiving but I have never used one.

Either case these are scary sharp and getting sloppy will put a hurt on you.

Due to a oversight and embarrassing for the crew, we used a custom knife I made, a Buck 110, and my Havalon Piranta to take apart much of the last elephant I hunted when the knife box was accidentally left in camp. In skilled hands actually cutting, not slashing or prying they are a formidable tool regardless of animal.

I love how you simple drop "elephant" in there so matter of factly like it's interchangeable with squirrel!
