2BuckBizCT
Bought my first pair of tall muck boots since I need to cross some water in Kentucky for a deer hunt in September. I've had them outside for 3 days (under overhang of porch), but they still reek like rubber. When will the smell go away? Any tips? I'd rather not spray them with something scented
nywaw
Yeah I remember when I got some mucks I was walking through knee high mud trying to get that scent knocked down. Maybe try some baking soda inside and make a paste with some water for the outside that you can brush on and wipe off after a day or two? 2BuckBizCT
Nomad
Are you thinking the smell of rubber bothers deer ? I’ve worn Mucks and Dry Shods for untold years never gave it a thought , I do use those Peets dryers and love it for getting moisture out . But I’m a guy who washes his hunting clothes with the regular laundry and doesn’t spray magic potions on his gear . https://www.peetdryer.com Belo, Buckmaster7600 and 2BuckBizCT 1
Robhuntandfish
I bought some nosejammer to try and it smelled too pretty to put on hunting clothes so I spray it in my boots "it's pointless for humans to paint scenes of nature when they can go outside and stand in it"- Ron Swanson
lucky118
I use the regular scent away and just keep them outside

I'm going to trudge through the little marsh behind my house and get them dirty before hunting season . I got the muck wetland model from Rogers sporting goods for 99 bucks 2BuckBizCT
phade
You’re fine. Just wear them when scouting and in the woods. If they can smell the rubber, they can smell you. Trial153, Nomad and dbHunterNY 2
Trial153
I I rarely wear rubber boots any more… they get ripe … I wouldn’t even worry about it. I am getting so nice pictures on our KY farm this year. Hoping to sign an option on the property next to us as well. Good luck on your hunt! 2BuckBizCT 1 You could leave life right now. Let that determine what you do and say and think.”Marcus Aurelius. 2BuckBizCT
Thanks all. I guess because I’ve never worn rubber boots but needed something waterproof the smell is just so strong. We use fragrance free soap and detergent for 10 years now in my house, so rubber smell is just making me uneasy as someone who is used to having deer in close range even without a blind or treestand. As long as I don’t move, deer don’t spook so the smell is making me anxious even though it’s 4 weeks away. crappyice
Probably want to wear them a bit anyway before you go if there is considerable walking in the Kentucky hunt. Find the right combination of socks(thickness) as rubber boots never fit like sneakers Caeden4 and Otto
