TimberGhost Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 I’ve been trying to finish all these loose end projects , the porcupine mount, a repair of two around the house and now this … I was gifted a Camp Chef cook top that had been left outdoors without a cover so, cook surface was in very bad condition . I have a pics of where we kinda began mid cleaning, the resurfacing and seasoning. Needs a coat or two more , perfect weather today . Came out better than I expected and will be making sausage and peppers on it tonight. Robhuntandfish, PraiseDiana and Loworange88 3

Scape it of all the crap, scrub with Kosher Salt and sponge , I used sand paper sponge because the condition. Rinsed and scraped some more and scrubbed with salt and dawn until smooth. Rinse and dry , gently heat and apply oil of choice .
left field Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 I have used Easy Off oven cleaner on old cast iron. Cover it with cleaner, put in a garbage bag and the next day it's down to the metal. My Instagram

left field Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Fair enough. I'm not sure how much the metal absorbs that doesn't come off in a subsequent cleaning. And it may be a nice counter to all the microplastics in my blood. TimberGhost 1 My Instagram

Worked awesome but just food burned on it. Not sure with rust other than removing the top layer of metal but it looks like you did well getting it clean.

It did obtain the slickness I was looking for , U-Tube has a few videos for reference . nywaw 1
