Rob-c
Now that i am hunting  state land now figured i should read over the rules and reg’s . I knew that our wonderful state had passed this law , but forgot all about it . So ive been looking at all copper bullets for my 30-30 , 300 savage and my 44 mag and muzzleloader. The good thing is 3030 and 300 can use same 30 cal bullet and i had bought the crush harvester sabots to use a 44 mag bullet in my M/L so again one bullet 2 guns .  But man copper bullets are pricy. I do enjoy working up loads , but in typical NY state fashion nothing is easy here . Disregard my post,  i read the article wrong . Edited August 21 by Rob-c
JohnPlav
Did you see this in rules and regs somewhere? I think this was proposed but never made official.  Please, someone correct me if I wrong. Caeden4, NYRturkeycall, virgil and 1 other 1

I was just looking for it as well and all I could find was the proposed bill
Larry
I don't remember seeing anything on having to use monolithic bullets on state land. I think I saw something on NYC lands. I know they are encouraging there use. Edited August 21 by Larry virgil

Sorry for the confusion . virgil, Swamp_bucks and JohnPlav
Mike103
Not passed. I hunt DEP almost exclusively now so a big issue for me. I have copper ammo almost ready for my entire group. 223, 243, 270, 7.62x39 mm, 308, 30-06 and 35 Whelen, 45/70. Only need 30-30.  Even pistols 380, 9mm, 357 mag. Can’t find any offered for 35 Rem.   Rob-c
Larry
I reload everything I shoot except rimfire and shotgun shells. I have loaded and hunted with monolithic bullets, in 6mm,6.5 creedmoor and 444 Marlin. Here's what I've found using them. Not as accurate as lead core you don't have to worry about penetration. With the exception of my 444 the bullets available are made to expand at 44mag velocity. The pedals break off in all mediums I've shot into. The deer I shot with the 225 hp went down but got back up it was the only deer I had to shoot twice with that gun. None of the bullets went through. I do hunt with bonded bullets. They stay together.
