Sent in my modified permit and it literally took 20 mins to have it approved . Those who have it , whats your  expiration ? mine expires 2034 .

You beat me by a hr or two.  Last yr they were only good for 5 yrs, mine expires in 2028.

To be clear, last year it was 1 or 5 years. Don’t want people thinking they got 5 when it was 1. Now it’s for a longer period of time, but I don’t know if they still offer the 1 year version for temporary scenarios.

You are correct. You had to check the box for temporary (1yr), or permanent (5yr).  Haven't seen this yrs form to see what if anything has changed.

I was planning on getting my permit this year (I heard that being on high blood pressure medication was a valid condition), but I decided not to for multiple reasons.

First off,  It’s all about the meat for me and now that we got the early antlerless gun season, it’s hard imagine a reason for needing to hunt the early part of archery season to get enough meat.

Second, the early ML week is my favorite time to deer hunt the northern zone (mainly because the smallmouth bass fishing is the best during that week).  I’d be missing (9) days of early archery anyhow including that week and opening weekend of gun up north.

Third, I’m really looking forward to the Holiday ML season at home this year.  I saved enough vacation days to hunt every day of that and my field corn is looking better than it ever has, and the turnips are looking good too.  It’s going to be important for me to save at least a couple of my (5) antlerless and (2) either/or deer tags for that this year.

Forth, Instead of hunting deer in early October with my crossbow, I’ll go after squirrels, and an exploding rabbit population with my .22 and shotguns.

I’ll still get out there with my crossbow on what has historically been my favorite time to hunt deer, the peak two weeks of the rut.  Thankfully, that has been legal for all NY’rs in the southern zone since 2014.  Good thing NYB didn’t realize when the rut was, when they negotiated that settlement with the NY polititians,  back then.

I checked permanent box  on mine and did not know there was a expiration date actually . Nothing on the form about length of time or expiration ..

Ya, I don't remember the form stating the difference between the two either. I remember reading somewhere, probably here, to check the permit box.

Good buddy checked temp, and he's redoing his next month as it was good for one year.

I got a permanent one last year, good for five years.

My hunting partner goes to his Doc next week. Maybe he'll get one for ten years??? He's been trying to pull his compound the last few weeks. He can't even get to the break. He's in worse shape than me.

Sucks getting old. Hopefully he gets the release and can enjoy some time in the woods.
