Nomad Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 So I’ve lived here nearly 30 years and the squirrels have always loved this nut tree, but this year theres way more squirrels, and they started burying them earlier as well . There’s ten here in the Side yard and another five in the front , it’s an all day festival too . Mrs Nomad doesn’t like rodents and has given me the green light . mowin Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 I'd knock every one of them off. Nomad and Spaceman Spiff 2

ATbuckhunter Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 I said the same last year and it was one of the easiest. Who know's what'll happen Nomad 1
Robhuntandfish Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 The birds are def flocking up. "it's pointless for humans to paint scenes of nature when they can go outside and stand in it"- Ron Swanson

Noticed that aswell recently, gunna be time to start wacking some squirrels here too.getting way to comfortable and don't need em trying to get into house.few weeks ago I was leaving for work in the AM and had one on the bird feeder so I walked up and swung my lunch bag and barely missed it.shouldnt be able to get that close! Swamp_bucks Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 I saw a doe the other day that looked like she had her winter coat started
crappyice Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 (edited) Bring on SNOW DAYS!! Need some ice on lakes too - I miss ice fishing Edited August 31, 2024 by crappyice ATbuckhunter and Spaceman Spiff 2
Wolc123 Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 I’m hoping for lots of snow. Last winter was the lamest I ever remember. My two snowplowing rigs (one for heavy snow and one for light snow) are rearing to go and my woodshed is nearly full.
Bucksnbows Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 Lots of leaves falling already. That’s early as well. Doebuck1234 and Lil zeek 2 "A sinking fly is closer to Hell" - Anonymous https://www.troutscapes.com https://nativefishcoalition.org/national-board
Larry Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 All right here it is, the reason we have had little snow wear I live is because I've been spending 300 a year for a snow plow guy. This year I'm not going pay for plowing. So we will get dumped on Nomad and 9jNYstarkOH 1 1
Bionic Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 I feel like the issue with leaves dropping is also partly due to the caterpillars trashing trees this summer, and by how hot/dry it was for a bit
Spaceman Spiff Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 I have thinned quite a few from my own lawn this year. Those damn red squirrels are the worst, they get into everything.
crappyice Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 Worth a repost-so many squirrels I caught 2 in 1 have a heart trap IMG_0164.mov
Nomad Posted September 2, 2024 Author Posted September 2, 2024 New pellet rifle dialed in to minute of squirrel. Wife’s concern is them getting into our attic, but there’s no trees close enough for them to use . Once I raked up the ground under that tree it helped with the numbers, I think the tree has lost most of the nuts . grampy, Robhuntandfish, mowin and 2 others 5
