Joe T
I took Enzo on a long walk in the woods yesterday morning and tried out my new Crispi boots- nice support and I was more sure footed on the hills and rocks. Today we practice retrieves in the woods on my property. I gave him a couple of really tough ones in thick cover and he persevered! blackbeltbill and crappyice 1

Joe T
@blackbeltbill I have a question - if terrain is described as swampy, would you suggest waterproof hiking boots or calf high rubber boots? My thinking is the rubber would probably be more in order and depending on what I see when I get there, it may warrant wearing my waders but I hesitate to put them through the harsh environment. While I do not know the area you are calling swampy I would say it's all about the recent rain. I was helping my buddy this past weekend in an area that usually requires muck boots for dry passage...last weekend (and I expect this weekend) we skipped though dry in ankle high hikers Joe T

You should waterproof anyway. I have two pairs of kenetrek boots and I always waterproof them. It keeps the leather supple and lasts longer. Plus it keeps the boots lighter because the leather wont absorb the water around the boots. Versatile Hunter and Joe T 1
Versatile Hunter
@Joe T I use NikWax for waterproofing. Here’s a video showing how to apply it Joe T
Versatile Hunter
Also, if I’m crossing water or in swampy cover, I can usually get away with wearing gaiters and I won’t get wet at all, even when the water goes over my boots. I add one simple step to that process that makes it easier and last longer . Warm the boot up with a hair dryer before applying the wax . Wax sinks right in deeper especially around the seams where you want it to penetrate the most. Joe T and Versatile Hunter
