How Will You Tag Your Deer??

With the new paper tags we have this year, how will you tag your deer???

I guess I will just bring a zip-loc sandwich bag, fill out the tag, and zip tie it to the deer?

Hoping someone else has a better plan??

In a different thread folks suggested using tear and water-proof paper. I just got some from Amazon (Koala printable vinyl paper). I'm printing before I head upstate this weekend. I'll let you if it's adequate.

I’ll have an egg salad sandwich IN a ziplock bag.  If I kill something I’ll eat the sandwich then tag the animal and wrap tag in messy bag.  Touché NYS

I've always filled out the tag before gutting and placed it in my pocket. Then attach to deer after I get the deer loaded into truck. If it's not raining you should be fine just attaching the paper tag and tuck in the ear. I think a lot of people are under the impression you need to drag a deer with tag attached, which isn't true.

Iv got a roll of clear packing tape . After filling out my tag ill pull off a couple  strips and sandwich my  tag between them .

As soon as I saw they were paper tags I bought small ziplock bags to use for it. Its really not that big a deal

this is genius.  Now there HAS to be a sandwich in the pack, its no longer an amenity but a necessity.

with the online reporting available why is the tag even necessary?  Just report it online like you're filling out the tag and be done with it.

Zip lock sandwich bag and a zip tie. Simple and easy. A couple of friends bought clear plastic ID tags off Amazon for cheap and are going that route with zip ties

I will most likely carry a potable clear laminator machine. After laminating my tag I will use a small punch to make a hole in the corner and then install a grommet to prevent the hole from enlarging and tearing.

I just can’t decide if I should zip tie it to the animal or if I should use piano wire for increased strength but then there is the worry or rust during inclement weather. 
 

I know that picture wire is sold with a poly coating but it comes in rolls of 50’. Could be an issue in transport. 
 

I hope to have all this worked out before opening day otherwise I might miss the season. 
 

Then there is the issue of no back tag. I’m not happy with the elimination of the tag so I’m considering having a tag embroidered. But there is the issue of the changing year.
