Keith Nehrke Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 Yep, it's something. We had an annual trip to fish the Green below Flaming Gorge every year and my sister was in Salt Lake then, so she'd meet us at the airport with her homemade fried chicken for our first night there. Awesome sauce. mowin 1

Keep safe, and enjoy your getaway! Oh....and keep sending pictures! Only thing we've seen so far is cows. The Nebo loop has those castle grates in the road and they kinda roam free in certain areas. Thought I seen a moose way out, but I turned out to be a damn cow, lol. Elk and deer season is open and the hunting pressure has pushed the animals into the backcountry. Talked to a couple elk hunters and they said we would have seen elk and mule deer if we were a couple weeks earlier. grampy 1
solon Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 I went there in June - absolutely stunning area. I asked the wife if she would want to move there - it was a no for her mowin 1

Thanks @dmandoes for that tip. Pics just can't come close to showing how incredibly beautiful this area is. Had the up close bison within 2 minutes of entering the park. We drove just about every stop we were allowed to, which is quite a bit. If you were hiking or biking, you could spend all day exploring this place. Seen over 200 bison, but, not for the lack of trying, couldn't spot a antelope or mule deer. We were only a few minutes from leaving the park and I said to my wife, they should call this place antelope-less island.. and I look to my left, and there's a pronghorn bedded. Highly recommend antelope Island if you are in the SLC area. It's a must see. Bucksnbows, dmandoes and grampy 3
