It's been an absolutely insane week.

my son came off the school bus on Tuesday and it looked like he was having trouble walking down the steps. When he got off the bus he said his legs hurt. When I looked he had a rash all over the back of his legs and his knees were swollen to the size of softballs. I picked him up and carried him to the house. We put him in the car and my wife drove him to the ER. I fed the dog, packed a bag and met them there.

he stayed in the hospital for 2 days getting tests. They determined it to be a post viral immune reaction causing inflammation in his small blood vessels. He is home and doing better but is still experiencing some swelling and pain as well as bruising all over his legs. We will need to monitor some things over the next few months but he should be fine.

Then last night we lost one of the greatest men I have ever known. My wife's grandfather who has lived with us for the past 8 years past away last night at 94 years old. He is a Korean War vet and a great grandfather of 9. He shared my passion for guns, history and old war movies. It has been a pleasure to have know him and he will be greatly missed.

on the way home from hospice last night my son started to cry. He said while he was said for grandpa he was really sad because grandma would be alone now. I told him she is not alone she lives downstairs and we can visit her every day.

it was very touching to see what a wonderful 7 year old my son has become.

im ready for this week to be over and hope we can all get some rest before we bury him next week

You have a wonderful child on your hands. Both my children had grandparents living with us. It was a blessing but they also experienced their deaths at an early age. Right now they are two tough ladies that can take on the world. Your son will be much better for the experience. My condolences to your family and may the boy get better soon!
