NY DEC Bear King

Let’s You woke up to be NY DEC  Bear hunting king. You get to make the rules and laws going forward. What changes are you making? 

Here are mine: 

Fall seasons: 

~all state wide 

~ Archery oct1-jan 31, crossbows allowed season wise for over 65 and the disabled. 

Regular season~ Friday after Thanksgiving for 10 days. 

Muzzleloader season : second saturday in dec for five days

Spring Baiting season:  250 Permits by lottery in catskills. 150 in the Daks,  100 in the remaining state. 

~ Mandatory harvest reporting and check in by 10 pm on the day of kill.

Open a spring season . April  15th to may 15th.  No  baiting

Saw them 4 times during bow.  First heard the stand creak when I shifted weight to draw 

 

second I hit n couldn’t find

3 n 4 were out of range 

Then

saw one opening day of rifle.  22 yds. Was 653 am.  He came up the hill quick.   Figured he was pushed by hunters so I waited for a buck.  : that never came.    Lol

 

btw that’s in a populated area over the last 41 seasons

 

none of my family got one either.

  1 was seen and let go    My bro took a nice pic of it at 8 yds.     
 

i don’t have an interest.  Lots of work.   Didn’t care for the meat.   Don’t need a rug

Meat is good if properly prepared. As for not needing a rug.. hide sells for 300 to 500 raw  on the market..  would  buy a lot of beef

Yes  can sell at any furbearer buyer.. England buys the most..they use them for their royal guard hats

and dogs with separate seasons before deer season. GPS collars required. Need written permission or must retrieve dogs without loaded firearms.
