Built a suspension bridge over the creek almost 10 years ago.. it's Been rebuilt , stretched and  fixed several had rail added  times over the years due to flooding. This creek can be 4 to 6 ft deep after a storm and remain that way for a few days.. ( built it to cross for hunting  purposes)

Was finially time for a complete board support and deck rebuild.

Some old  photos and the new rebuild  last..received_529902666074669.thumb.jpeg.1c05e30a2e3d918c32e37308f11ba0aa.jpegreceived_974744164455885.jpeg.08e34affc99aac7543f410cf26f72a46.jpegreceived_1233928094701002.thumb.jpeg.c9f2db115cd7dff9fbc1674430fde709.jpeg20240903_103620.thumb.jpg.f172cd98b0e5aa1fe6c6a4642d329d62.jpg

Cool project! What is the span? For foot traffic only? Dicey when icy?

90 ft bridge.  Yes walking  ( done on purpose to keep atvs off) it's  not bad  icy sometimes  but walking  sideways with hand rails works well.    Also wide enough to drag deer across.

That looks fantastic. How much swing does it have?

Not to much  it all depends how you walk on it ..  one foot in front of other has a lot less then side to side ..  shuffling side ways has the least.

Awesome project! Brings back memories. There is a piece of public land that had a couple cables roughly 5' apart in height that crossed a quick moving river. I think someone fell in the river at least every year. lol.

Wow, that’s way more complicated (and longer) than my foot bridge (12” wide x 2-1/2” thick x 16’ long white oak plank).

There's a spot on our creek that I'd like to put a walking bridge across but one side is probably a good 30 feet higher than the other side. Could a suspension bridge be used in that scenario?

Yep . Hardest part is anchoring it.  We used 12 in sonotube 4 ft deep and 1 in rebar   ..could of used 1.5 in rebar  as trees in high floods snag it.. 2nd hardest it stretching the cables.. you need a cable puller hooked to winch  the tighter the better.
