Cabin Fever
It’s become a common occurrence to hear a loud bang on the family room windows and finding a dead bird laying under the window! I swear 2-3x a week this happens! I keep a shovel out there anymore to scoop them up and toss them out of the yard! Surprised they haven’t broken a window yet! Something must be attracting them. Every spring we've got a male cardial that will continually fly into one window in our garage. Been here 6 yrs and I don't know how long birds live, but we'll hear this thing hitting the window over and over every morning for about 2 weeks in the spring. cas
I've had that happen to the window behind me twice, both times it was chased into the window by a hawk, who ended up eating them. First time scared the crap out of me. Second time I thought "again?" , and it was in fact again.
SportsmanNH
If you put up a curtain or even better a shade on those windows it will stop happening . This used to happen constantly at my parents place in Vermont . They had 2 sliders on opposite walls so the birds thought they were flying through . We put curtains up on both sliders and it never happened again for months . One day my mother left both curtains open and BANG ! Freakin Blue Jay on a kamikaze mission committed suicide on the slider and cracked the glass ! Caeden4 and Bucksnbows 1
Cabin Fever
This guy keeps an eye on the bird feeder and helps clean up bird carcasses. Most times, instead of tossing the carcasses into the woods, I’ll toss them under the feeder and this guy comes to get them. Pretty cool to watch and he likes the hand outs! Yeah, it’s sad to have so many birds flying into the window and dying. I would hate to put up a curtain and block our view of the back yard though. They're flying away from the coopers hawk and they fly into the window
