Was invited to play a tourney on the East course this coming Monday. It's my first time playing at an exclusive course and I'm not sure what to expect. Has anyone played here that can offer me pointers?

It's going to be me and a buddy that I work with in a 4some with a few VP's from the title sponsor. Normally, my buddy and I get out with friends 2-3 times per year. Usually we load up the coolers and go to low key public courses (Arrowhead, Chili CC, county courses, etc.. ).

Never played it so can't offer any pointers, but attended the PGA championship there last year. It is a monster of a course. Should be an awesome experience!

I've played there a bunch expect to have Fairway Woods in your hands after your best drives lol. The greens are big, but they are fast. That creek never looks like it's a factor until you hit it and your ball ends up in @JohnPlav backyard.

Ha!  That’s right.  If you see a pack of wild children wade past you, send them back upstream.

I don’t golf, but Iv been to a bunch of weddings and events there.  Beautiful place.

Is it a charity event? If that's the case a lot of the normal etiquette rules are off the table. With that said I have never played there but standard high end course etiquette is golf polo, golf shorts or dress pants. No hoodies if it's cooler outside. No outside beverages (never stopped me from throwing a few in the bag) just cant get away with a cooler on the cart generally. That's the basics that will keep you out of trouble just about anywhere. Some of the more crazy ones are. You cant change your shoes in the parking lot. That's to be done in the locker room only. No hats allowed inside. Depending on the bar/restaurant a suit coat could be required but it seems most places now have members bar where you can just have your golf attire on and sit at the bar.

In the end dress in proper attire and have fun.

I always put my shoes on in the lot there but you cannot wear a hat in the clubhouse. Tuck your shirt in too (I hate that).

I was putting on my shoes in the lot at Tenafly and some douche rolls up and yells "THIS ISNT A LOCKER ROOM!!". Thanks asshole. A simple heads up would have sufficed

RRH Charity event. They sent out an email with some of the rules - collared shirt, no denim, no cargo, hats allowed outside, but always forward facing, no phones anywhere onsite. Reception to follow at country club of Rochester..

Usually my buddies and I have a standing rule that if you don't drive it past the ladies tees, you have to drop your shorts for your next shot. I'm thinking that may not fly here...

Honestly it's something that never ever crossed my mind. I come from muni golf where you change your shoes at your car. I was stunned when I was chastised for doing it at a fancy CC. I have played CC of Buffalo and Brookfield CC and neither had an issue with me changing shoes at the truck. Thank god the cart guys didn't question why my bag weighed 150 pounds. Damn near had a 30 rack stuffed in ever crevasse possible.

Charity event so your golden. I have a love hate relationship with the phone rule. On one hand I love it because no one is being annoying by taking calls while on the course but man I love to snap a picture or two while on a new course especially if the landscape calls for it.

If you are unsure what to wear I think @Marion had the perfect golf outfit when we played with @crappyice at a private CC in 3S

Think Ricky Fowler with a handlebar moustache. Oh and a white kangol. Handlebar moustache required!
