turkeyfeathers Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 Not a gadget guy. Been using Evercalm pit stick I’ll call it for years. Slap a swipe on boots bottoms at car before walking in and a swipe over head in tree. I’ve had so many deer definitely hit my scent cone and cross my tracks in and not go on alert. In fact like it says “calm “. These intrigued me to utilize with my thermacell. ZAG, mowin, Caeden4 and 2 others 5

broomeguy Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 Does it make the deer think your human scent is old or something like that?
Otto Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 I like it! You put the Evercalm on your boot bottom? I put it on the toe and and the sides, my theory is it will spread out along my walking trail in tiny bits instead of washed off in the first few yards. Like you, I have seen deer hit my trail and not spook and even seem interested in it.
Wolc123 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 (edited) The coolest thing I’ve had happen with Evercalm was fooling a coyote into thinking I was a deer and almost getting jumped by it. I put some on my boots prior to walking up a heavily used deer trail up a mountain pass in the Adirondacks. I was wearing full camo and carrying my ML (this was prior to the orange hat law). The coyote picked up my trail down at the bottom, and cut across diagonally to intercept. At about a 15 yard range, just as it was about to pounce, I raised my gun and tried to get on it. At that point, it turned tail lightning fast and disappeared into the heavy cover. I was not able to get off a shot. The face it made, when its eyes told it something different than its nose, was priceless. I also noticed a pretty good uptick in the number of mature bucks that was I able to fool when using that stuff. I also usually put it on my heels but I also wiped some near my stand when I got there. I stopped doing that because the yellow stripes that remain are ugly. Now I just open the stick, set it down up in my stand and cap it and put it back in my pocket prior to departure. It also lasts quite a bit longer that way. Thanks for the reminder, it’s time to order a new stick for this year. It’s been a few years now, but this gives me a good excuse to post a picture of the last big buck, and certainly the one most attributable to Evercalm (I’m sure Belo will appreciate the second or third picture I have posted here of it). This one was on a brisk pace thru thick woods and came to a complete stop when he got to the Evercalm laced trail that I had walked in on, offering up an easy 50 yard broadside shot at the back of his rib cage thru a small opening in the trees with grandpas old 16 gauge Ithaca 37.
